My interest lies in dance that is invigorating for dancers to perform and esthetically challenging for audiences to watch. I believe an audience can sense when the performance is honest and immediate. Witnessing those qualities, audiences receive the best that artists can offer. My creative objective is to make experiences for audiences and dancers that are multi-layered. As my work is viewed and examined the layers of choreography and different production design elements are inseparable. The process does not privilege the movement first with lighting, set, video and costumes attached later. Concepts shaping my stage environments support my movement invention, and vice-versa. The dancers are integral in this process. I encourage dancers to live fully in the moment in which they are dancing. I direct them to concentrate on each moment as they are dancing rather than to worry about what just happened or what will come up next in the dance. I hope that the audience will get caught up in the energy of the performance and discover something new, layer upon layer.
